About this privacy notice

The Family Voice survey is to capture the ideas and suggestions of service users at the Best Start Family Hubs. These hubs are a new government directive to support families with children aged 0 to 19. Young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) can access our services up to age 25. We deliver services from various locations across Brighton & Hove.
What information is being used
Although the survey questions do not explicitly ask for any personal or special category data, it does include free text boxes, and so such information may be shared by those completing the survey. This notice is to state that Brighton & Hove City Council will look after any such data inadvertently shared to comply with Data Protection law. Any personal data shared will be anonymised.
How your information will be used
We are collecting your data for the purpose of informing service provision at the Best Start Hubs.
What is the legal basis for processing your information
We have a lawful basis for collecting this data as it is considered necessary to enable us to carry out our tasks, functions, duties or powers or to perform a task carried out in the public interest, improving the well-being of young children.
We have a lawful basis for processing this data under Performance of a task carried out in the public interest (Data Protection Act 2018 schedule 3, part 3 para 8; Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance 2026, the Children Act 1989, the Children & Young Persons Act 2008).
Special category data is being processed under the lawful basis of Substantial Public Interest (DPA 2018 schedule 1, part 2, para 18 and19).
Who we share your data with
The data will be used to compile reports about the engagement with the Hubs. These will be shared with the relevant staff and Boards in the Family. Children and Learning directorate in the council. It may also be required to be shared with the Department for Education for monitoring. Again, these reports will not contain any personal data.
How long will your information be kept for
We will not keep your data for longer than necessary, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain the data.

Your information is not processed in the UK or in a country with an adequacy agreement with the UK.
