About the Crisis and Resilience Fund
The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is funded by the UK government. It replaces the Household Support Fund from 1 April 2026, and will run until March 2029.
The CRF provides support to households who are facing financial difficulties.
To get help from the fund you must be a resident of Brighton & Hove.
What the CRF can help with
The CRF can:
- help those facing a financial shock
- provide access to affordable food projects and sustainable energy support
- give advice and information to enable long term financial resilience
The CRF will also fund Housing Payments, which replace Discretionary Housing Payments, to help meet housing costs, such as rent, rent in advance or removal costs.
The CRF can provide help if you face a crisis, and we can link you with advice and community support. They will help you avoid financial crisis in the long term and reduce the risk of future financial worries.
We have used CRF to fund organisations across the city, this means you can access support directly in your own community.
Where to get help
Crisis Payments
If you have experienced a financial shock, you can apply for a Crisis Payment online.
When you apply for a Crisis Payment you will need to provide proof of your residency, your income and your current financial circumstances, including bank statements.
Community help and money advice
You can get help through our community partners, including help with:
- finding a sustainable community pantry
- energy advice
- social activities
- emergency food provision
- financial advice and support
Housing Payments
If you're struggling to pay your rent, you can apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment.
You must already receive Universal Credit Housing Element or Housing Benefit to qualify.
Council Tax Reduction
