Coldean Neighbourhood Plan Referendum – Thursday 24 September 2026
A referendum on the Coldean Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 24 September 2026.
Who can vote
To vote in the referendum you must be:
- registered to vote by Tuesday 8 September
- a resident of the Coldean neighbourhood area or a registered Crown servant or service elector in respect of an address in the neighbourhood area
- aged 18 or over on polling day
How to vote
Poll opening times are 7am to 10pm. The polling station is St Mary Magdalen Church and Community Hall, Coldean Lane, Brighton, BN1 9GS.
You need to bring an accepted form of photo ID to vote at the polling station

You do not need photo ID to vote by post
Key dates and deadlines
- Tuesday 8 September – last day to register to vote
- Wednesday 9 September, 5pm – last day for us to receive your postal vote application
- Wednesday 9 September, 5pm – last day to cancel your postal vote
- Wednesday 9 September, 5pm – last day for us to receive proxy applications if you, or your proxy, already have a postal vote in place
- Friday 11 September – postal votes dispatched
- Wednesday 16 September, 5pm – the last day for us to receive any other proxy vote applications
- Wednesday 16 September, 5pm – last day for us to receive your Voter Authority Certificate application
- Friday 18 September – first day to reissue replacement postal votes
- Thursday 24 September – polls open from 7am to 10pm
- Friday 25 September – ballot papers counted
