This course is designed for leaders, managers, supervisors, and aspiring leaders who want to strengthen their ability to develop individuals, enhance team performance, navigate change successfully, and adopt a coaching approach within Early Years settings.

This course explores the key elements of effective team leadership and development. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of team roles, team dynamics, change management, and coaching approaches, enabling them to build high-performing teams, support individuals effectively, and lead with confidence through periods of change.
Delving into the role of roles and the transformative power of coaching:
Team roles
We will look in depth at Belbin's team role theory and apply this to our own settings and leadership roles, empowering us to make the best of every team member's potential.
Team dynamics
We will delve into how teams work, applying Tuckman's model of team development to our own situations.
Navigating change
Change theories will be explored, enabling us to recognise the impact of change on our teams. We will then look at strategies to successfully manage ongoing change.
Coaching
We will take a deeper dive into coaching, exploring different models of coaching, active listening, effective questioning and summarising. We will also look at how and when we can use coaching impactfully in our practice and what it means to develop and enjoy a coaching approach in our settings.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- explain Belbin's Team Role Theory and identify how different team roles contribute to team success
- apply strategies to maximise the strengths and potential of individual team members
- describe the stages of Tuckman's Team Development Model and use this understanding to support team effectiveness
- evaluate the impact of change on individuals and teams using established change management theories.
- implement practical strategies to lead and support teams through ongoing change
- demonstrate key coaching skills, including active listening, effective questioning, and summarising.
- apply a range of coaching models appropriately within workplace conversations
