Identifying and supporting children with speech and language difficulties in the early years

This course is for Early Years staff in Foundation Stage settings and schools with responsibilities for supporting individual children with speech and language difficulties.

About

This is a standalone course exploring Speech, Language and Communication. 

This session will cover: 

  • how language normally develops and how to identify speech, language and communication difficulties
  • strategies to support speech, language and communication development

The session will provide participants with:

  • an increased understanding of Speech, Language and Communication difficulties (SLCN)
  • a range of strategies to effectively support children with SLCN
  • increased confidence in recording targets and outcomes on SEND Support Plans for particular areas of need
  • opportunities to review policies and practices in their setting to reduce barriers to achievement and inclusion
