This accessible path was the result of a partnership between Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and the South Downs National Park.
The smoother and wider tarmac surface means it is now accessible for anyone using wheelchairs or mobility scooters, as well as for people walking, cycling, wheeling, scooting and horse riding. On the doorstep of the National Park, the 2.5km path provides a traffic free link from Woodingdean to Falmer Village, the universities and Falmer Stadium.
Falmer Village is a quaint, historic downland village northeast of Brighton.
Bisected by the A27 it retains its rural charm, with its central pond, traditional flint cottages and proximity to the South Downs. St Lawrence Church dates back to the 11th century.
Hidden behind the church is the 13th century thatched barn - reputed to be one of the largest in Sussex and originally built to store corn for Lewes Priory.
