Walk from Woodingdean to Rottingdean Linear to enjoy spectacular far reaching views. Find details about the walk and directions from the nearest bus stop.
About this walk
This walk starts in Woodingdean and takes you along the farm tracks of Balsdean Farm – a stunning terraced track with far reaching views across the downland to Castle Hill Nature Reserve.
In the valley bottom, there is a beautiful avenue of trees the path takes you through before winding your way back up and over the downs to Rottingdean.
The walk culminates at Whiteways Lane, a historic track connecting Rottingdean and Saltdean. It dates back to the 1700s and is famous for its role in smuggling operations. It is now a country lane, flanked by horse fields, in a tunnel of trees.
The village of Rottingdean offers many refreshment opportunities with cafes and pubs.
