Walk 4: Woodingdean Castle Hill National Nature Reserve Loop

Bus numbers 2, 22, 72a, N1 at Downs Hotel stop Woodingdean 

1. From the bus stop turn left up the Falmer Road past the houses until you come to the bridleway post on your left.
2. Cross the road with care and take the left hand fork on the track.
3. Follow the track past the aerial until you come to the Castle Hill National Nature Reserve sign on your right. Enter the reserve through the bridleway gate adjacent to two field gates and follow the track down through the valley.
4. Exit the reserve through a bridleway gate and follow the path to the left around the valley bottom.
5. Pass the disused farm buildings on your right until you come to a path cross roads next to a clump of trees.
6. Take the bridleway on the right and follow the track with the tree line on your right.
7. At the next bridleway gate bear right and climb gently around the side of the hill side on a terraced grass track.
8. After climbing the hill, pass through the bridleway gate and join the gravel track. Follow this track back to the car park on the Falmer Road.
9. Re-trace your steps back down the Falmer Road to catch the bus opposite the Downs Hotel.
