Walk 8 – Stanmer Loop

Bus numbers 5b, 24, 26, 52, 55 at Hollingbury Asda stop

1. From the bus stop at Crowhurst Road (ASDA) follow the road with ASDA on your left, bearing left up the hill to the roundabout at the top.
2. Go straight across both roundabouts, over the bypass, leaving the roundabout to walk up the embankment, through a gate and diagonally across the field. Follow the path until you reach the Ditchling Road.
3. Cross the road with care into the Upper Lodges car park. Go through the car park and follow the road between the two lodge houses. Continue for 100 metres down the hill. Turn sharp left at the waymark post where you will enter the woods.
4. At the end of the woodland go through the gate, cross the concrete path and follow the hedge line. Go through another gate and continue straight with the Ditchling Road to your left.
5. Go through the next gate just past the dewpond and follow the path through the trees.
6. At the fork turn right, following the main, wide track through the wood and go past the buildings with with flint wall on your left.
7. After walking under the electricity pylon at Millbank turn right down the hill on a flint track towards Stanmer Village.
8. Once at Stanmer Village turn right at the pond and follow the road up the hill. (There is a café and toilets in the village). The road will bring you back to the Upper Lodges car park and from here just follow your original route back across the road , through the field, over the bypass and down the hill to the bus stop
