Trader fined for “dangerous” scaffolding

A man has been fined £1,042 for putting up scaffolding at Boots, 19-21 St James Street, Brighton, without a licence. The scaffolding was unprotected by hand rails and tapping boards, and was a danger to the public.  These were then resolved and a licence obtained, but the scaffolding remained in place after the licence expired.

Kevin Nelms, Trading as K & A Scaffolding had the scaffolding up between 25 April and 29 April 2013 without a valid licence.

At Brighton Magistrates Court today (30 May 2013) a plea of guilty was entered by Kevin Nelms.

The Magistrates ordered Mr Nelms to pay a fine of £266.00 with £750.00 costs and £26.00 Victim Surcharge.
