A Brighton man is £680 worse off after admitting fly-tipping offences.
Nathaniel McKenzie Peck pleaded guilty to fly-tipping near his home on Preston Road. Magistrates ordered him to pay a fine of £300, along with £350 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Magistrates also imposed heavy penalties on a woman from Lancing who was caught dropping a cigarette in George Street, Hove.
Shannon Russell, of Bridge Close, gave a false name and address and then failed to attend court.
If Ms Russell had paid the original fixed penalty notice she would have only paid £75.
But in her absence she was fined £220 with £400 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for the main offence, plus a separate fine of £220 for the offence of giving a false name and address – making a total of £870.00.
