Housing Repairs & Maintenance dispute update

Joint statement from Brighton & Hove City Council and GMB Union

Following positive discussions between the council and the GMB union, the dispute involving some of the staff working in the Housing Repairs & Maintenance service has been resolved.

The dispute relates to the terms and conditions of employment for staff that arose before the transfer of the repairs service in-house in April 2020.

Staff working in the service will be given the option to join council terms and conditions or remain on their existing terms and conditions. 

We are pleased to reach this agreement, which will allow for the harmonisation process to move forward.
