Brighton & Hove City Council has been announced as one of 8 local authorities chosen to pilot the government’s new Young Futures Hubs initiative, a key part of the forthcoming National Youth Strategy.
The Young Futures programme will create a national network of inclusive, youth-led spaces for 10 to 18-year-olds, along with support for those up to 25 years of age with SEND.
Each hub is designed to bring together services at a community level to improve access to opportunities, enhance mental health and wellbeing and reduce crime.
Brighton & Hove’s selection as an early adopter means the city will help shape the design and delivery of the first hubs, ensuring they reflect local needs and priorities. Planning and co-design will begin soon, with the first hub expected to open by March 2026.
By piloting a Young Futures Hub, the council will work with local partners, youth organisations and young people themselves to co-design a space that meets these needs and creates a strong foundation for future hubs across the country.

Brighton Youth Centre has reopened following an extensive renovation, which was supported by a £2.3 million grant from the council and a £5.2 million award from the government’s Youth Investment Fund.
