Summer Park & Ride returns to Brighton & Hove
Park & Ride will return to Brighton & Hove from Saturday 25 July, giving visitors an easier and more affordable way to travel into the city during the busy summer period.
Visitors can park their car, ride into the city and enjoy more of their day without circling for a space or navigating busy city-centre traffic.
Starting just ahead of the school holidays, the Park & Ride service will run between the University of Sussex campus in Falmer and take passengers directly to the city centre on Brighton & Hove Buses existing number 25 bus route.
Buses run every 12 minutes in peak periods, helping people travel across the city easily and without the stress of searching for a city-centre parking space.
Park once, ride in and enjoy everything the city has to offer
Instead of everyone paying individually, by using this Park & Ride service and parking at the university it will only cost £6.50 for a vehicle carrying up to 5 adults, and no limits on numbers of children travelling.
Payment will be available through the PayByPhone app or website.
The service will be available on select Saturdays and Sundays in July and August and on bank holiday Monday.
The service offers a simple option for people heading to the seafront, the Lanes, shops, restaurants, attractions and summer events.
Supporting a busy summer in the city
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, said: “After a successful trial last year, I’m pleased we can once again offer a Park & Ride service for visitors to the city.
“We’re really proud that Brighton & Hove is one of the country’s most popular summer destinations and it has so much to offer. Our Park & Ride service gives visitors a simple way to park outside the centre and travel into Brighton for the seafront, shops, restaurants and everything that makes the city the place people want to be.
“Using the well-established 25 bus route means people are better connected not only to the attractions, but also to other local bus routes for onward journeys.
“This is about making busy summer days work better for everyone. Visitors can get into the city easily without worrying about parking, it brings more people into the city to support local businesses, reduces emissions and it helps reduce pressure on city-centre parking and local roads for residents.”
