Who can apply
Anyone can apply for a copy of a birth certificate for a birth in Brighton & Hove as long as you know some important information about the birth, including:
- date of birth
- place of birth
- full names of the person at birth - if the person is known to have been legally adopted please phone 01273 292 016 for advice
- father's full names
- mother's full names
- mother's maiden surname

For our standard certificate service, your certificate will be issued within 15 working days, and sent by second class post.
Our priority service offers 24 hour delivery if you require a certificate urgently. Priority applications must be made by midday for next day collection or first class postage.
