We're developing a new supported housing strategy. Work on a needs assessment is underway. We will be consulting on a draft strategy in autumn 2026.
The Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 introduced a new duty for councils to assess local need for supported housing.
Brighton & Hove City Council must develop and publish a supported housing strategy by 31 March 2027. We'll also be responsible for setting up a new supported housing licensing scheme.
We're reviewing existing supported housing in the city. We are also looking at the need for supported housing over the next 10 years. Together with other councils across Sussex, we have commissioned PPL & Cordis Bright to carry out our needs assessment.
We plan to consult on a draft strategy and delivery plan in autumn 2026.
