You need to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Ceremonies will take about 1 hour. A civic reception in the Council Chamber Ante-Room follows group ceremonies. The Mother’s Union provides refreshments.
An official photographer is present at public ceremonies to take portrait photographs of you. These can be purchased from the photographer after the ceremony. An additional passport photo service is also offered on the day.
You need to arrive 10 minutes before your ceremony. A private ceremony will last about 20 minutes. You may invite up to 10 guests on a weekday or 30 on a Saturday.
The ceremony is led by the Superintendent Registrar or a Deputy and is not attended by civic dignitaries.
An official photographer is usually present to take portrait photographs of you and provide a passport photo service on the day, subject to availability.

The ceremony will begin with a formal welcome on behalf of the City of Brighton & Hove
During the ceremony, you will need to make either an oath of allegiance (swear by Almighty God) or an affirmation of allegiance (secular) to HM King Charles III.
These are the words you will say if you choose the oath of allegiance.
I (name) swear by almighty God that on becoming a British citizen, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles the Third, his Heirs and Successors, according to law.
I will give my loyalty to the United Kingdom and respect its rights and freedoms. I will uphold its democratic values. I will observe its laws faithfully and fulfil my duties and obligations as a British citizen.
These are the words you will say if you choose the affirmation of allegiance.
I (name) do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that on becoming a British citizen, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles the Third, his Heirs and Successors, according to law.
I will give my loyalty to the United Kingdom and respect its rights and freedoms. I will uphold its democratic values. I will observe its laws faithfully and fulfil my duties and obligations as a British citizen.
After you've made your oath or affirmation of allegiance, we will present your naturalisation certificate to you. The ceremony will finish with the national anthem.
