Park & Ride

Summer Park & Ride 

Park and Ride is returning to Brighton & Hove from Saturday 18 July 2026 giving visitors an easier and more affordable way to travel into the city during the busy summer months. This service costs £6.50 for a vehicle of up to 5 occupants.

Park and Ride is available from the University of Sussex (BN1 9RQ), with easy access from the A23 and A27. Follow the signs to the site, then catch the number 25 bus into the city centre. Buses run every 12 minutes during peak times, making it a quick and convenient way to travel.

Other park and travel options

If you're driving from outside the city and want to avoid traffic and parking in the city centre, there are options to park outside of the city centre and walk, cycle or use public transport for the onward journey. 

Withdean - park and bus to the city centre  

For many years Withdean was used as a Park & Ride location for the city but we no longer advertise it as a Park & Ride service, since the introduction of parking charges. It is still possible to use the sport centre car park to catch the frequent number 27 bus service into the city centre if you wish.

Parking and buses are paid for separately, and bus travel is paid per person. A single bus fare is £3, with other fare options available for groups. See the Brighton & Hove Buses website or the Brighton & Hove Buses mobile app for further information. Up to 4 children can travel for free with each accompanying adult.

Parking at Withdean

Location: Withdean Sports Complex car park, Tongdean Lane, BN1 5JD. Find Withdean Sports Complex on Google Maps.

Height restriction: 2 metres at the entrance.

Parking cost: 

• free for the first 3 hours
• £3 for stays between 7am to 8pm (after 3 hours)
• £10 overnight (8pm to 7am)  

You can pay:

• by card (a contactless machine is located at the bus stop ramp)
• via the PayByPhone app/service (there is a 20p service fee), find out more about PayByPhone

If you're visiting the Sports Complex or Sportsman Pub, you can extend your 3-hour stay for free by speaking with the team at the Sports Complex reception.  

Park Active Car Parks

Our Park Active car parks encourage users to walk, cycle or use public transport for their onward journey. 

They’re situated near local shops and attractions, BTN BikeShare hubs and regular bus routes.
