About suspended parking bays

Each bay is 5.5 metres long. You need to make sure that you suspend enough bays for your purpose.

We will place a bright yellow sign by your parking suspension. The sign will have information about:

• where the suspension is
• the dates it will be suspended

Do not move or change the sign; this will invalidate the suspension.

Unless instructed otherwise on your application, the standard suspension length will be from 6am on the first day of the suspension to 11:59pm on the final day of the suspension.

When you can suspend a parking bay

You can suspend a parking bay for:

• moving house
• a skip
• utility works, like water or gas works
• special events, like a marathon or Pride event
• photo shoots or filming
• a wedding or funeral car

Where we cannot suspend a bay

We cannot give you a parking suspension on yellow lines or in unrestricted parking areas.

We cannot suspend any loading bays on red routes unless it is for critical works.  If you need to carry out any form of work in a red route area, contact parking services using the “Parking bay: Suspension enquiries” option.

We cannot suspend taxi ranks in the same way as parking bays because they need a temporary traffic regulation order. If you need to suspend a taxi rank, contact parking services.

We cannot suspend bays in car parks.

We do not suspend parking bays on bank holidays.

We cannot carry out every suspension request because of events in the city. In this case, we'll let you know the next available date.
